19-year-old cop’s daughter was gangraped by four men while she was returning home from the coaching institute. Repeatedly for three hours, the girl was tied and raped by men who took breaks for tea and Ghutka under the Bhopal bridge. The girl was kidnapped after she was returning from coaching institute which she used to attend for preparing her civil services exam in MP Nagar.
What happened after the rape is more horrifying! In spite of parents working as cop’s in the city, three police stations refused to take her case. Few others and a GRP officer mocked her case down by terming this as a filmy story. The parents — her father is a sub-inspector with a security force and mother with the CID.
They had to run from pillar to post to register a rape case with the police station as everyone denied to believe it. Later they approached the RPF, who asked them to register the complaint with MP Nagar police citing jurisdiction as the spot falls under the limits of GRP. Finally, the rape case was registered at Habibganj.
The incident took place at 7 pm when the girl took a shortcut route to reach Habibganj station. Later, two rapists identified as Golu and Amar snatched her wrist watch, mobile phone, and earring. Later, the duo turned to rape her and kept threatening her if she cries for help. They took a break for having tea, cigarette, and gutka in between.
The girl asked Golu for some clothes as her clothes were torn. Golu went back home and brought his wife’s clothes and invited other two friends as well. Later, Ramesh and Rajesh joined Amar and Golu and took turns. The horror went till 10 pm until one among them allowed the girl to dress and go back home.
The accused was finally arrested when the victim saw Amar and Golu loitering in front of Mansarowar Complex. The police chased them and handed over to the police station. This horrifying case has shocked the city, as Bhopal is considered to be one among the safest city for women. The spot where she was raped is the busiest road in the city with RPF post just 50 meters away.
“They have been booked under sections 376 D (gangrape) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention),” the officer said.
