Jio Phone Explodes While Charging, Reliance Blames The User Instead

While many of us are still striving to take a glimpse of Jio phone,  already a case has been registered against the smartphone. Last year reports of Reliance Lyf Smartphone bursting into flames came into limelight. Jio is not the only phone which has registered a case of an explosion or bursting in the list. Samsung, RedMi, Ziomi, and Apple are some of the popular brands which have registered a case of mobile burst in the past.

According to the reports published on technology blog Phone Radar, Jio phone exploded while charging in Kashmir. The phone started melting after some time of the blast. The name of the owner was not made public but the device was examined by a local Lyf distributor who corroborated the information.

In this picture circulating on the media, you can see the Jio phone is melted from the backside. When you take a glimpse at the front side, the phone is scratchless and was not affected by the blast. Spokesperson of Reliance Jio said that they are aware of the incident and will soon look into the matter.

Soon, the company spokesperson said that has been tampered with intentionally. The company said that the device’s battery is intact which proves that the source of heat was something else or was induced externally. The picture also shows the burned end of the charger which indicates that there might be a problem with the charger.

Talking to the Tech today, here is what Reliance Jio spokesperson said, “JioPhones are designed and manufactured with global standards, and each phone goes through stringent quality control process. The said incident has been reported to us. Our initial investigation suggests that this is a case of intentional sabotage. The damage to the device seems to have been intentionally caused. The incident, as well as its timing, has been designed by vested interests to malign the brand. We will take appropriate action based on further investigations.”

The company also stated that timing of the incident state that someone is trying to malign the brand name. To recall, the company had earlier promises to deliver 6 million Jio phones before Diwali. For now, the booking of Jio Phone has stopped and it would start soon. Just a few days ago, we reported about Samsung Galaxy J7 which caught fire in Jet Airways Flight.
