You need to meet the real hero, Salim who managed to save the lives of 50 Hindu pilgrims in Amaranth terror attack. More lives could have claimed if the Muslim Driver did not show his presence of mind and courage to save the pilgrims. Amidst heavy firing by a group of armed terrorists, Salim, the bus driver risked his own life and saved the passengers showing extraordinary courage.
On Monday, terrorist killed seven pilgrims including 6 women and also injured 19 others as they struck a bus in Kashmir’s Amarnath district. Despite being hit by a bullet, it is said that Salim drove the bus safely while returning from Amarnath Shrine. It is said that Salim drove nearly 2 km without stopping near an army camp and also locked the doors of the bus from inside to refrain terrorists from entering into the bus.
On interviewing the courageous driver, here is what Salim said, “God gave me strength to keep moving, and I just did not stop,”
Salim could not save seven lives but he managed to save other 50 passengers in the bus. Here is what Salim’s cousin Javed Mirza said, “He couldn’t save seven lives, but managed to move 50 people to a safe place. We are proud of him. He called me at around 9.30 pm and said that there was firing. Salim did not stop when terrorists fired but only looked for a safer spot for the pilgrims,”
The bodies of the seven pilgrims have been brought to Gujarat and Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that the country will never bow to such an ideology. Apart from this, The Gujarat government has also announced compensation of Rs. 10 lakh for the family of the deceased and Rs.2 lakh for those who are injured.
