Motorola had announced earlier that the much-awaited Android Wear powered Moto 360 smartwatch will be available later this month. In a new development, Flipkart has announced on its Facebook page that the watch is now listed on their site. However, the date of launch is not yet ascertained as the listing displays a ‘Launching Soon’ tag with the option to be notified via email as soon as it comes in stock.
The pricing details of the watch have not been revealed yet. Just like all of Motorola’s recent releases, the watch is slated to be sold exclusively through Flipkart. As for the specifications, the Moto 360 flaunts a 1.5-inch LCD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and a pixel resolution of (320×290 pixels). The smartwatch is powered by a TI OMAP 3 processor paired with 512MB of RAM, 4GB internal storage and a 320mAh, which is said to last up to 12 hours on a single charge. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0 and it comes loaded with sensors like pedometer, and heart-rate monitor among others. As mentioned above, the Moto 360 runs on Android Wear and is compatible with Android smartphone running on 4.3 Jelly Bean and above. The launch price of the watch in the US is $249 (approx Rs 15,000).
Recently, the Moto 360 invited controversy when iFixit did a teardown of the device and found out that the smartwatch comprises of a 300mAh battery instead of the officially claimed 320mAh battery. The teardown even revealed that Motorola has used old chips in the smartwatch that should have gone extinct with the Motorola Droid 2 five years ago. Motorola even released a statement explaining the cause for battery mix-up. But setting this controversy aside, Motorola Moto 360 is touted to be one of the best looking smartwatch out there with respect to its circular design.
