Xiaomi has larger plans for India and hints point towards the launch of the Xiaomi Redmi Note for Indian markets. The Chinese tech major known as China’s Apple posted a teaser image of a blurred diya on its Facebook and Twitter with only the date reading 08 Oct 2014 in focus.
The implication is of a pre Diwali launch and the device being the Redmi Note since reports earlier hinted at such a possibility by Hugo Barra. He has said that the device would make it to India before Diwali for Rs. 9,999.
What’ expected today is either an announcement for the device or a flash sale which would in all probability occur on a Tuesday which has been Xiaomi’s tradition.
The Redmi Note phablet packs a 720p IPS panel in a 5.5 inch screen, a 1.7Ghz octa-core MediaTek processor, 2GB RAM and comes with 8GB internal storage along with external micro-SD card support. The 13MP rear and 5MP front cameras round off the imaging on this phablet. The device gets its power from a 3,100mAh battery.
Barra has also said earlier that the Mi 4 would not be launched before December and that the Mi Pad tablet will also see a concurrent unveiling.
Xiaomi has been addressing consumer frustration regarding the Mi 3 and the Redmi 1S which have been released incrementally in flash sales on Flipkart. It has already announced the sixth Redmi 1S flash sale for October 14th where 100,000 of the phones will be available. The pre-registrations have already crossed 200,000.
Flipkart’s Big Billion Day sale also saw Xiaomi releasing 150,000 RedMi 1S and 25,000 Mi 3 phones being given to users who’d been unable to procure the phone in previous flash sales.
